The Friends of Victory Lakes Association, Inc was formed in late May 2004 by the local community to purchase the lakes after the previous owners informed the community that Upper Victory & Sunset Lakes were found to be in violation of NJDEP dam safety regulations. Without many costly repairs to the dams, the lakes would be drained. Drainage of the lakes would leave the community without its local water recreational resource and a water source. The diverse wildlife that depends upon the lakes would be left without a home. The community rallied together to form the organization & purchase the lakes from the private owner. As a community, we took ownership of lakes and their surrounding area in November 2004. The community continued to work together, focusing on the required repairs and how to manage the funding for the dam restorations. FVLA continues to provide the community with outdoor recreational avenues that include fishing, boating, picnicking, ice skating, and relaxing. We sponsor events that provide family gatherings, such as Santa Breakfast, Fall Festival, and Community Cleanup Day, all of which enrich the community. We continue to maintain a beautiful home for the diverse wildlife in the lakes and surrounding area.
